March 23, 2013 – CFA website wins “Highly Commended” designation

CFA Website Receives Recognition

In late 2012, the CFA website was entered into a “Best Website” competition hosted by the Federation of Family History Societies (this site has since been renamed “Family History Federation“).  Awards were presented at the FFHS meeting in Birmingham, England, on March 23, 2013. The CFA website was awarded “Highly Commended” (in effect, 2nd place) in the category for medium-size societies. We are thrilled with the award from the FFHS and happy to share the credit with CFA members, especially those who have contributed photos and information to the website. The CFA received a lovely certificate, which was on display at our Annual Meeting in September 2013. Click on the small image at right to see a half-size version of the award certificate.

November 19, 2011 – CFA joins Federation of Family History Societies

CFA gains membership in UK-based
Federation of Family History Societies

In November 2011 Dick Chandler suggested that the CFA join the Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS), based in England, in order to increase our visibility in the UK. The FFHS – //www.familyhistoryfederation.com/societies-az – is a respected organization with world-wide membership. With the approval of the Executive Committee, our application was submitted and the FFHS Board approved our application on November 19. The $75 cost of the first year’s FFHS subscription was donated by one of the CFA officers.

As a new member, we were featured in the Society Spotlight of the January 2012 FFHS Ezine.

The NGS contest required submission of two consecutive newsletter issues within the 2009 calendar year. It was the decision of the Executive Committee to submit our Summer and Autumn 2009 issues.

April 21, 2010 – Website Grader

Dick Chandler submitted our website for a free review by Website Grader, which has tested millions of websites. The CFA website ranked 368,041 of the 2,332,104 websites that had been ranked to that date. A website grade of 84/100 for our site means that of the millions of websites that had previously been evaluated, the CFA site scored higher than 84% of them in terms of its marketing effectiveness. We hope to use the comments from Website Grader to further improve our website.
