Spurgeon “Spud” Chandler, St. Petersburg, Florida
Bob Chandler sent this photo of the grave site of baseball great Spurgeon “Spud” Chandler and his wife Frances in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida. The inscriptions read “Spurgeon F. 1907 – 1990” and “Frances V. 1916 – 1999” with “Together forever” between the two names. Bob said, “Sadly, I found that before he died he lived in the city of South Pasadena, just outside St. Pete, when I was a young Deputy Sheriff working there. I’ll bet he would have had a lot of great stories.” See more about Spud’s career and Chandler lineage here.
